Let us finally take a stand in Syria

Now that the Aleppo tragedy has played out, while we have stood by, can we not at least take some action, however late?  The US should use military force if necessary to protect and guarantee the safety of those who have surrendered as they leave the city.

Perhaps our shame over not at least imposing a no-fly zone over the city when the conflict raged and the Russians showed their true barbarism inhibits our action.  But it is better to at least help the survivors and defeated rebels get to safety and swallow our own wounded pride.

Crimea, Ukraine, now Syria.  Apparently Putin has read about the 1930s, so should we for its lessons.

And, what is it we stand for in the Middle East?

China issue with Taiwan call

Why are our news mavens asking the wrong question?  Trump is president-elect.  He does NOT yet have the authority to do anything that makes or compromises set policy.

Yet on CNN the exchange was over whether this is unusual or does it imply a new policy or is Trump just winging it to stir the pot.  We should be asking how can someone without the authority vested in a constitutional officer or his/her authorized spokesperson be making calls to heads of state unless it is only a courtesy call and is consistent with current protocol and policy.

And he's not president, with the authority vested in his position, until he's sworn in January 20.  Until then President Obama is our chief executive.

Bad move Trump. Get with the basic issues, CNN, and recall that Trump's not even president-elect until the electoral college votes.

Trump conflicts issues

Well if you needed any more evidence of our journalists coming up short, now it is clear.  The complex and unprecedented challenges faced by the president-elect over his businesses should have been aired out during the campaign.  But I don't recall ever hearing or seeing the discussions now before us.  If you did contact me or comment.

Trump's potential challenges should not be a new issue.  Our journalist crowd should have raised these matters as long ago as the primaries, and during the debates and numerous interviews before November 8.  Especially since the potential effect on US policy requires airing and discussion.

I guess our zinger-seeking crowd didn't think the subject would elevate ratings.  Better to keep in simple, and let the trumpster manipulate them.

Whatever you think of the president-elect, this big issue for him and for the country was entirely missed by the softball crowd.
