The Garland nomination: Shame on the Senate, and the press

I wonder why the press let the Senate off so easily for their inaction after the Merrick Garland nomination.  Instead of giving him the courtesy of a hearing, the Senate Republican leadership merely ignored Pres Obama's nomination and hobbled the Supreme Court - a coequal branch of government.

What they did was outrageous.  They violated their oath of office, and undermined the Constitution. But where is the outrage, the challenge from our media masters to the Senate's brazen hijacking?
Those Senators who are responsible should resign, starting with Mitch McConnell.

These are not conservatives; they are radicals, acting contrary to tradition, contrary to the structure of government, contrary to principle.

And the press just do-si-dos on past the egregious behavior.

No surprise, I suppose from the folks who failed in so many ways in our recent presidential campaign.

I wonder also, does the Constitution have to suffer so the Nielsen chart looks good?

Republican's Sophomore Stunt

So our Republican House members, offended that someone can make a complaint without having to identify themselves, meet in secret and pass an ill conceived ethics plan.  No more independent oversight; instead we must trust them to keep themselves in line.

Then, after snubbing their noses at principle, failing to make a principled argument, fold in the face of a tweet from Trump.  Like a house of cards, a fart in the wind.  So much for principled legislation, for the good of the nation over the convenience of the party.  A bald-faced move that any thinking person knew would not stand.  Should not stand.

But they pressed on, undaunted, until someone sneezed, and they flew away like a startled flock of blackbirds.   At least we know now, and can fairly apply skepticism when any one of these sophomorics bloviates in our faces.

Credit Trump at least for his tweet.  But government & policy by tweet will diminish us, the body politic. What are we to do?
