What happened to checks and balances

At least two senators have said they will vote to approve Trump's Supreme Court nominee without even knowing who that will be. The Senate is supposed to perform a check and balance role under the advice and consent authority. It sounds as though Lindsey Graham, for one, has no intention or need to apply any scrutiny to a nominee. It's all about politics, party. Those law school lessons from Constitutional Law courses apparently have evaported from these senators. Bad faith. Violation of oath of office. Faction that our founders warned us about is asserting it's corrosive influence. These people are not patriots
