Back on Track

With Robert Mueller as special prosecutor, we are back on track in resolving the mysteries of this whole Russian connection saga.  Congrats to Mr. Rosenstein for such a fine, timely selection.

But that does not resolve what has become a more pressing question: is the president competent to head the ship of state?  Each day, it becomes more apparent that he is unfit for the office he holds.

Perhaps a group of patriots, members of the cabinet that must deal with him every day, will end this painful episode via invoking the 25th Amendment.

Sooner, rather than later, please.  Let's not wait too long, probably far less time than Mr. Mueller's job will require to find out what we want, and need, to know.

North Korea talk

The president needs Congress to authorize any military action against North Korea.  It is not within his authority to just proceed on the basis of a threat - unless it is imminent and for all we know there is a lot of bluff going on there.  Also, Did those weapons in the Pyongyang parade on April 15 look like mock ups?

But, it is not unreasonable to install the missile defense system in South Korea - strident threats from North Korea, the presence of 28,000 US forces in South Korea.

In any conversation or public discussion about Korea, let's not forget Japan.  They are a very important country, and important US ally.  Further, Japan has a complicated history with both China and Korea, which naturally colors their diplomatic interactions.
