More evidence of what we already know

At least in Dick Cheney's mind, the edifice that the founders erected to handle war making is irrelevant. Or maybe he doesn't understand that the Congress - elected representatives of the people - decide when the nation goes to war. Even as a hypothetical question about low public support, his "So" response is troubling; especially when support of the war has steadily declined for more than 2 years. It has not fluctuated.

There can be no doubt that Cheney embraces greater executive authority than the Consitution provides, or the founders intended. For that reason alone, Cheney, who swore an oath to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution, should resign. We cannot afford to have constitutional officers who act contrary to their solemn oath.

And Congress needs to act, once and for all, even if it means impeachment. We have a renegade administration, with radical views on many aspects of government and its structure. It is past time to act.
